What the SGP audit means for our business

Fantastic news - our latest audit by Costa Coffee’s SGP (Supplier’s Guiding Principles) program has awarded us a perfect score of zero non-compliances. This achievement shows that every aspect of our workplace meets the highest ethical standards and it’s something we are all very proud of.

The audit, based on the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) base code, evaluates businesses against key ethical and environmental standards, ensuring fair and safe practices throughout the supply chain. Conducted by an independent approved body, it covers:

  • Working conditions – ensuring staff are employed in a safe and socially responsible environment
  • Warehouse tour – checking that all health & safety measures are in place
  • Fair pay – confirming staff receive the correct wages and payslips
  • Employee feedback – confidential staff interviews to assess workplace satisfaction
  • Company policies – reviewing practices that protect workers and promote fairness

Our ongoing commitment to ethical practices

For us, this process is not only a compliance requirement but also a reflection of our values. We undergo an SGP audit every three years as part of the Coca-Cola supply chain (through our work with Costa products in the UK) and see it as an opportunity to demonstrate the values we actively live by, maintaining the highest ethical standards. We are delighted that our dedication has once again been recognised with a flawless result.

Kelly Lucas, HR Manager, says: “Achieving a perfect score is a significant milestone for our team. It demonstrates that we treat our people fairly, our policies protect workers effectively and our workplace meets the highest ethical standards. We are extremely proud of this outcome and will continue to ensure our workplace remains one where employees feel safe, respected and valued.”
