Understanding cocoa takes more than experience - it requires continuous learning. That's why last week, members of the CCG team – Kinga Górecka, Elliot Lauwers and Jack Gunn – attended the Federation of Cocoa Commerce (FCC) three-day course "Introduction to Cocoa 2026" at the CIM Business Centre in Maidenhead, UK. This provided a comprehensive introduction to the cocoa supply chain, covering everything from cocoa production and processing through to futures markets, logistics and trade.
Delivered by experienced industry professionals, the programme gave attendees a valuable opportunity to learn about the challenges and opportunities facing the cocoa industry today. Alongside the classroom sessions, the FCC hosted an industry dinner, giving participants the chance to get to know fellow professionals in a more informal setting.
Reflecting on the experience, Kinga said:
The FCC course was a fantastic experience. Learning directly from industry professionals provided us with valuable knowledge and practical insights that we can now apply in our daily work.
Following the three-day course, Jack Gunn, a member of our Commercial Team, went on to complete the FCC's two-day programme "Introduction to Contract Terms & Arbitration 2026". The course explored the key principles behind cocoa trading contracts, dispute resolution and industry regulations – especially valuable for those working in commercial roles.
Jack commented:
I found the breadth of information covered during the course extremely useful. I particularly appreciated the personal perspectives shared by the lecturers and their clear passion for the industry.
Supporting our people in developing their industry knowledge is an important part of building for the future. By investing in training and development opportunities like these, we help our employees grow their skills, broaden their understanding of the industry and build rewarding long-term careers.
Kelly Lucas, HR Manager, said:
It's particularly encouraging to see the newer members of our team embracing opportunities like these - thank you to the Federation of Cocoa Commerce for their hospitality during the week.
