March 12, 2026

We were delighted to welcome Louise McKinlay, Deputy Leader of Essex County Council and Cabinet Member for Communities and Economic Growth, and Stephen Metcalfe, former Member of Parliament, to our headquarters in Great Braxted.

During the visit, Alec Gunn, our Founder and CEO, provided an overview of the company’s operations both here in UK and in Europe, supporting international commodity supply chains. The visit offered an opportunity to showcase the expertise, infrastructure and innovation that underpin Commodity Centre’s operations.

Louise and Stephen were then given a tour of the warehouse operations by Martin Manning, Commodity Centre’s longest-serving employee – 34 years. He showed Louise and Stephen the day-to-day processes that keep warehouse operations running smoothly.

Alec commented: “It was a pleasure to welcome Louise and Stephen to Great Braxted and to show them what we do here at Commodity Centre. We are proud to be part of the Essex business community and always welcome the opportunity to show our Businesses Leaders how we contribute to the wider economy.”

Louise commented: “Visits like this highlight exactly why Essex has such strong potential for future growth. Businesses like Commodity Centre demonstrate the innovation, expertise and long-term commitment that drive our local economy forward. It was a pleasure to see first-hand the scale of operations here in Great Braxted and to meet the team behind it. Supporting companies to grow, create jobs and strengthen Essex’s position in international markets will remain a key priority as we continue building a prosperous future for the county.”

With Louise running as a candidate for the first Mayor of Greater Essex in 2028, she and Stephen expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to see behind the scenes of a successful company contributing to the local economy. Commodity Centre is proud to call Essex home and looks forward to continuing to develop and expand its operations as demand grows.
