At our Amsterdam facility (CC NL), sustainability is not a new initiative - it is an ongoing journey. Built on years of investment in renewable energy and operational innovation, our approach continues to deliver meaningful, measurable results.
Many of the gains we are seeing today stem from decisions made several years ago, demonstrating the long-term value of consistent commitment and forward-thinking investment.
Delivering measurable CO₂ reductions
Over the past year, we have continued to reduce carbon emissions across our operations. By transitioning to cleaner fuels, we have achieved a verified reduction of 167,644 kg of CO₂ emissions through the use of Neste MY Renewable Diesel™. This is a significant step towards decarbonising our transport and logistics activities.
At the same time, we have strengthened our commitment to renewable electricity. By sourcing 100% green electricity generated in the Netherlands, we have reduced emissions by a further 201,960 kg of CO₂. This shift not only supports our own sustainability goals but also contributes to the country’s broader transition to renewable energy. Our operations now include an expected annual consumption of 440,000 kWh of renewable electricity, further reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
Building on a strong renewable energy foundation
These results are rooted in earlier investments, most notably the transformation of our Amsterdam facility into a fully solar-powered warehouse. Since 2021, the site’s 7,000 solar panels have been quietly generating clean energy at scale, forming the backbone of our renewable energy strategy.
Spanning 30,000 m² of roof space - roughly the size of two football pitches – we are generating significant on-site renewable energy while maintaining operational efficiency.
Sustainable supply chains
Our progress in Amsterdam reflects the commitment of CC NL to embed sustainability across the entire supply chain. Today, our cocoa warehouse operation at the Port of Amsterdam runs entirely on green energy.
This not only supports our decarbonisation ambitions but also enhances product quality and traceability through advanced warehousing systems, demonstrating how sustainability and operational excellence go hand in hand.
As expectations from regulators and customers continue to evolve, our sustained investments and partnerships ensure we remain at the forefront of responsible logistics and warehousing in Europe.
