Redemption Roasters Case Study

The Customer

Redemption Roasters needed a specialist supply chain partner to support the storage of its growing coffee business, providing the care, traceability and expertise required to protect the quality of its speciality coffee.

Founded in 2016 by university friends Ted and Max, Redemption Roasters is a speciality coffee business with a difference.

The company was established with a clear social purpose: to reduce reoffending by providing prisoners and prison leavers with the skills, training and employment opportunities they need to build a future after release.

Working in partnership with the prison service, Redemption Roasters established its first roastery inside HMYOI Aylesbury, providing participants with practical coffee and hospitality skills. This was followed by the launch of its first dedicated barista academy at HMP Springhill in 2018 and a new roastery at HMP The Mount in 2020.

Today, Redemption Roasters operates from its new roastery in Wembley, its first facility outside a prison setting. Alongside its growing network of London coffee shops, the business supplies customers through wholesale and subscription channels.

As the business continues to grow, having the right supply chain infrastructure in place is essential to supporting its operations and creating further opportunities for training, employment and social impact.

The Opportunity

With its coffee business continuing to expand, Redemption Roasters needed a reliable storage partner with specialist knowledge of the coffee sector.

The quality and value of speciality coffee can be affected by its storage environment, making appropriate warehousing, careful handling and effective stock management essential.

Redemption needed a partner that could provide a secure storage environment while maintaining visibility and traceability across its stock, helping to ensure its coffee remained in the best possible condition throughout its time in storage.
