Alec has been in the logistics business since leaving school which has, over time, afforded him comprehensive experience and understanding of the industry.

 

A motivated and experienced entrepreneur he embarked on creating a service that would rival the very best in Northern Europe. The business and product portfolio has grown steadily under his direction in the UK, Netherlands & Belgium.

 

Through the shrewd appointment of a first class dedicated team of directors, managers and staff and under the Commodity Centre brand Alec continues to develop the company into one of the most successful in its field. Dedicated to the further strategic growth of the Group he employs his visionary approach to the business.

ALEC GUNN
Founder & CEO

Dean joined the Commodity Centre (UK) in 2011 as the CFO after qualifying as a chartered accountant at a Top 20 London firm in 2006.

 

Applying his financial background to the Operational and Commercial activities Dean became Group Director in 2015, his main role to oversee the successful growth of the business in the UK and Northern Europe.

 

Dean was appointed to Group Managing Director in April 2020 and where he is responsible for the Group’s strategic policy, gearing it towards growth and profitability in a sustainable manner with his experienced team of Directors.

DEAN WARRINER
Group Managing Director

Andrew is the Finance Director of the group and is based at its headquarters in the UK. Andrew joined the Commodity Centre in March 2014 from MHA MacIntyre Hudson where he had acted for the Commodity Centre in a business advisory and assurance capacity.

 

Andrew is a graduate of Loughborough University and fellowship member (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

MEET OUR
MANAGEMENT TEAM

Since 1977 Bert has been involved in all aspects of commodity warehousing and logistics. In the year 2000 he became Operational Director of a new joint venture which was primarily involved in the cocoa and coffee operations for a different Group and progressed within the commodity industry.

 

In 2003 he joined a warehousing business as local Managing Director and the company developed into one of the biggest cocoa operators in Amsterdam.

 

In 2016 he joined the Commodity Centre to bring his wealth of experience and to grow our start-up operation to the market leading operation it is today. With his experience and dedication, he has been pivotal in the construction of “Falcon and Osprey” Terminals and continues to manage the operation.

BERT SCHALIJ
Director, Commodity Centre Netherlands

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a leadership expert with extensive experience and over 25 years in senior management and Board level positions. Widely proven in business transformation through the successful implementation of change strategies. Holds vast knowledge and expertise in continuous improvement, change management, operational transformation, business growth and quality management.

 

He holds a number of qualifications in business and operations, including a master’s degree with distinction in Applied Management.

MATTHEW BIBB
UK Operations Director

Tamara joined the Commodity Centre Belgium in 2013 as a Director having previously worked at a local warehousing business with Wim in the role of Deputy Operations Manager. Starting her career in the Port of Antwerp in 2000, Tamara worked through all landside-based stevedore operations including general cargo, steel and heavy lifts from trucks, barges and railcars.

 

With over 20 years’ of European commodity specific experience in the warehouse and supply chain logistics sector Tamara oversees the Commodity Centre operations in Belgium.

TAMARA TANGHE
Director, Commodity Centre Belgium

Wim started his career in Warehousing and Logistics in 1998 at the age of 18 years old following his fathers footsteps in the warehouse industry. Wim was quickly promoted through the Company and was made Operations Manager in 2004 having set up the Operations Department after a period of sustained growth during 2000 to 2004.

 

He joined the Commodity Centre Group in 2013 as Director overseeing the Belgian business and is involved with the day-to-day operations as well as overseeing the growth of the Company.

WIM JACOBS
Director, Commodity Centre Belgium

A qualified charter surveyor, Toms’ experience covers all property disciplines which include holding senior roles in private practice, international development companies and pension fund management.

 

He has extensive experience in asset management, particularly with very substantial portfolios which include industrial and distribution, also overseeing investment and development strategies.
